Am I Dead Yet?

Fuck. That pretty much sums up my week. Monday didn't go nearly as well as I had planned. Woke up for class with a huge migraine, so couldn't go to class. Spent the entire day in bed sleeping and hating life. Woke up Tuesday without a headache which was nice. Went to the chiropractor and then went frisbee golfing with my friend Paul. I just started at the end of last year, so I'm not very good. But Paul has been playing for almost 15 years so he has a lot of pointers to give which is nice. After that had dinner with the parents and hung out outside on the deck enjoying the beautiful weather.

Ever have one of those days where you just feel off? That was Wednesday. It started off pretty good. Went to the chiro, went discing with Paul again and ran into three of my friends at the course that I haven't seen in a long time so we joined them and had a good time. Then it went downhill. Went home for dinner, grilled pork chops and potatoes :-). One of my parents' friends came over for dinner which was cool. But my mom and him started socializing and drinking wine more than cooking, so the chops and potatoes got rather burned. It wasn't a huge deal, but kind of annoying. I love pork chops and had been looking forward to them all day, so I didn't get what I was expecting. After dinner, all my friends were busy so I had nothing to do so I decided to go for a drive and clear my head. With school coming to an end, I've been stressing really hard about exams and such, so it was nice to get out and spend some quiet time with myself (If you can count listening to loud music quiet time :-P). However, spending time with my thoughts wasn't as relaxing as I had hoped. I started thinking about everything that I have to do in the next week or so, and I started to get really overwhelmed and rather depressed. Not what I had in mind. Decided to go up to the BP and hang out with Aaron which was good because he's always in a good mood and helped to cheer me up. He's really goofy and always cracking jokes from movies or something. Once they closed and I went home, I was feeling realativily better, but still called it an early night and went to bed.

Thursday I had band practice. It started off incredibly good and we were really productive again. We nailed all our parts on the songs we've been having trouble with and there was a lot of positive energy. After a couple hours we took a break and had some KFC. Like always, once we went back to play, we were getting tired and losing motivation fast so we called it quits shortly there after and just hung out outside, again enjoying the weather. I went home not expecting to do anything for the rest of the night when my friend Kaija called my saying she and her husband Ian were back in town for a few weeks and they wanted to hang out. We decided to have an impromptu bbq and bonfire at my house. They and our friend Garrett came over and we grilled up some brats and beans and caught up on what's going on in everyone's lives. After dinner, we headed out to the fire pit and built a big fire. A little while after we got it going, my brother and his friends Yogi and BooBoo (Yes that's what we call them)came over and joined us at the fire. We spent the next few hours out there burning shit and having a good time. Around 1 AM it started to rain so we went inside. Ian, Kaija, and Garrett had to leave but the rest of us decided to watch a movie. They settled on 'A Scanner Darkly' which I've seen a few times so about halfway through I decided to go to bed.

Woke up today and went to the chiro, and now I'm here. Later today I have to go up to my aunt and uncle's house again and drop off my brother's dog for the weekend. My parents are having a dinner party tomorrow and with my brother moving in at the same time, we thought it would be too much hassle to have Kodi around. If he wasn't a 110 pound Rotweiller I don't think it would be a problem, but he is so it is. After that I'm helping my brother move more of his stuff here. Tomorrow is his last day to get out of his place so it's becoming a mad dash to get it all out. On Wednesday he came over and stole my truck and gave me his car so he could start moving stuff over after work which he's been doing at 1 am. As long as he gets it done, who cares.

So that's my week. Maybe not as bad as I thought now that I look back, but at the time it sucked, especially Wednesday. I probably won't get a post in until Sunday, but we'll see. I'm going to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off all weekend.

I'd also like to say thank you to my third follower, Octavius. If you haven't checked out his blog or his story, they're in my blog list and I recommend you head over there.

Where Has The Time Gone?

Wow, it's already Sunday night and I haven't posted here since Tuesday. I guess I've been busy, without even realizing it. Well let's see, Wednesday I had my doctor's appointment which went pretty good. The doc said my nose and sinuses are healing well just like he suspected. I took the percocet before and also took some anti-nausea pills too which seemed to do the trick. I was pretty high at the appointment, but the doctor understood. Normally after the doctors I'm so high I just go home and sleep but I had a chiropractor appointment a couple hours later so I had to stay up. I thought about taking a nap before, but knew I was so drugged up I wouldn't wake up in time. So hung out around the house watching tv and then went to the chiro. Nothing special there, just an adjustment. Afterwords, I had dinner with the folks (dad came home Wednesday night) and finally came down. I was still rather groggy though. I'm not supposed to drive for 24 hours after, but my dad needed me to go with him to pick up my mom's car from the shop so I had to drive a little. It wasn't too bad, but towards the end of the drive I started to feel more out of it and was glad I was almost home. Looking back it probably wasn't a good idea to drive, but nothing bad happened and we got the car home. Won't be doing it again though.

Thursday I had band practice. Not much happened though because Wyatt, the singer, wanted to get a tattoo done so we called it quits early. After that I hung around the house for the rest of the night. Pretty boring.

There has been a transmission sitting in my driveway for two weeks from a car my brother worked on and he needed me to take it to the junk yard that he got the new one from to get the core deposit back. Normally this wouldn't be too bad, but the place was about an hour and a half away from my house. I thought it would be a pretty boring drive so I invited my friend Cory to come with me. He didn't have anything else going on so he decided to come. We headed out and made pretty good time, getting there around 1 o'clock. Dropped the tranny off, got the $100 back, and the turned tail and headed home. I was right, it was a very boring drive so it was nice to have Cory there to talk to. It's funny how many random conversations you can have with a person when you're trapped in a car together for 3 hours. Got back home and dropped Cory off at his house. After I got home I was dead tired from the drive so I took a nap for a couple hours. Once I woke up, I ate dinner, sloppy joes I believe, and called Cory. He didn't have any plans for the night so he came over and we watched Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween. Not a great movie, at least compared to the original, but it was enjoyable. There were a few sex scenes in the movie where I could see Cory got a little 'excited'. I guess I never really mentioned this before, but I'm gay, and have a slight crush on Cory, if you will. So these little moments are nice treats for me. Anyway, once the movie was over Cory went home and then I went to bed. I had had a long day of sitting in the car and was just beat.

Saturday rolled around and I had no plans at all. At least it started that way. Since my brother is moving back home with us next weekend, he is starting to bring some of his stuff over to the house and he called me to come help him and to use my truck. That's the funny thing about owning a truck. EVERYONE calls you to help them move. In the last four years I have moved 20 times with my various trucks, but it has never been me moving. I'm always being called to help move people. But they pay for gas and sometimes give me some money for the trouble which is nice. So I head over there and we load up the truck and bring it all back to my house, unload the truck, and then help my parents rearrange the house some more. We had a pile of furniture we didn't want or have the room for, and my aunt said she would like it, so we were going to give it to her. The only problem is she lives an hour away. So again I get called upon to haul all the stuff up to their place. I didn't really mind though because I didn't have anything else to do and I like my aunt and uncle and cousins. Got up there about 9 pm and unloaded everything. Then went inside and was watching tv with my cousin. My uncle got home and we all watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I had never seen it before so it was cool to watch. After the movie my uncle and cousins went to bed and my aunt and I stayed until 3 am just talking. I love that about my aunt, she just talks and talks and talks. Finally she said she had to go to bed and I said I had to go home. She tried her damnedest to get me to stay the night, but I really wanted to sleep in my own bed so I went home. Got home at a little after 4 am and crashed right away. Didn't even brush my teeth I was so tired.

Woke up this morning with nothing to do until 5 pm. Hung out with my parents and helped them finish arranging the house for all of my brother's stuff. About quarter to 5 I left to go to another band practice. This one started out really good and on the spot wrote a new song. Now we just have to polish it up and tweak things a little. Usually it takes a little bit for us to get it worked out right, but today it all just clicked. Then Wyatt and Aaron, one of the guitar players and also known as slo-mo, got into a huge argument about a song, and Slo-mo grabbed his guitar and walked out the door. Aaron doesn't have a car, and lives 20 miles away, so he just started walking down the street. We all gave him a few minutes to calm down and then we called him. We finally convinced him to come back and then we had a huge, two hour long band meeting. A lot of things were said, and on more than one occasion people got pissed off, but everything that needed to be said was said and we all calmed down after a while. Now we know where the other members stand, and know the direction we want to go. It's not how I wanted it to happen, but it needed to happen. After practice I hung out with the other Aaron up at the BP, and shot the shit with him until closing. Came home, made some pasta and watched some tv, and then jumped on the computer.

So that was pretty much my week. I didn't think it was that busy, but thinking about it I did a lot of stuff, just spaced out enough so it didn't seem hectic. I'm sure there is more that I did Wednesday/Thursday that I don't remember, but that's the big stuff. This week shouldn't be too bad. Just classes and helping my brother move more of his stuff over. I'll keep you posted on what's going on for sure.

Free Day!

Well last night my class was canceled, turns out the teacher is sick. So I had a free night to do whatever I wanted. What did I do? Hung out with Aaron at the BP for a while, then watched some tv with my mom, and goofed around on the internet. Pretty nice, relaxing day if you ask me.

Woke up today with a very small agenda as well. Had a chiropractor appointment followed by a trigger point therapy class to help relieve back/muscle pain when I'm not at the chiro. After that my mom and I went to drop her car off at my brother's shop and headed out for dinner. We went to this awesome burger place by my brother's work, but it just so happened to be closed for "employee appreciation night". I thought it was interesting that happened to fall on 4/20. I'm not a stoner anymore, but even when I was I thought 4/20, or 4:20, were retarded. Who needs a special day or time to smoke weed? Does it give you a better high? No. Is the weed cheaper? No. So who cares? Anyways, I convinced my mom we should go to this place Buster's and grab a burger. My brother took me there once a couple months ago and I fell in love with it. What's really cool is they have over 100 beers to choose from, and you can create your own beer flight. Basically you pick 5 different beers and they give you a three ounce glass of each for $10. You can try a lot of different beers without having to drink 5 pints. I don't drink, and couldn't if I wanted to since I'm not 21, but still a cool concept.

After dinner we came home and hung out watching tv again. Lately we haven't spent a lot of time together because I'm usually awake all night and asleep all day, so it was nice to spend some time with her the past couple days. If you're wondering, I do have a dad, but he travels a lot for work and is out of town this week, so I haven't seen him. I'm pretty sure he gets home on Friday though.

Well that's pretty much it. Tomorrow I have a follow up appointment for the sinus surgery I had last December. They are going to stick a 12 inch needle through my nose and into my sinuses, which really, really hurts, so I have to take percocet. I'm not excited at all because every other time I have taken percocet, or vicodin, or any opium, I get really nauseous and either throw up or want to die. Not going to be fun. But the doctor said he hopes this is the last time I'll have to do it, so I hope he's right. Probably won't post tomorrow because I'll either be high, asleep, or throwing up. I'll let you know how it goes though.

I'd also like to thank my 2 followers: Bobby, and Hocine. I'm glad someone is reading this and I'm not just talking to myself. So thanks for being the first two!

The Weekend

Well A Night On The Street was a huge success! I got there about 6:30 Friday night to start building boxes. We had a little over 400 to build and scheduled three hours to do it all, but we had like 10 people and were really efficient so it only took us about an hour and a half. I had originally planned on going home and taking a nap after, but I spent the next hour talking to the cop that was there, just shooting the shit. It was rather weird having a conversation with an officer and being treated like an equal. Even when I talk with cops and I'm NOT in trouble, they always act like they are superior to me. Probably because I'm a punk teenager that up until a year ago had a 10 inch mohawk. Might have something to do with it. Anyways, I left there about 10 o'clock and went to a gas station where a buddy of mine works, here by referred to as the BP. They close at midnight so I went up there and hung out with him until they closed. Not a whole lot going on up there, but it was a nice way for both of us to kill time. After that I went home and grabbed a shower and some play time, before going and getting something to eat. Headed over to my friend Anthony's house, because he was going to do security with me that night. I got there kinda early so we just hung out watching tv until it was time to go back to the church.

We got to the church a little before 3 am, and went and met with the previous shift to figure out the plan. Basically we were supposed to walk around the parking lot and make sure people don't walk through the parking lot or try and mess with any of the boxes. Occasionally we would walk around the entire church to make sure there weren't any people causing trouble there either. It was a pretty quiet night, and the three hours went by incredibly slowly. Me and Anthony spent the night telling jokes and smoking cigarettes basically. I thought it was rather funny that the cop that was on duty spent most of his night sleeping in his nice warm car while me and the rest of the kids were out in the wind and cold. Oh well. Finally 6 am rolled around and I dropped Anthony off at his house and hightailed it back home to get some well deserved sleep. Slept away the next 8 hours, and spent the rest of the night hanging out at home recovering.

Sunday rolled around and I got up relatively early, at least for me. My brother was over working on some friends' cars, he's a mechanic by the way. My buddy Aaron, who was working at the BP on Friday, needed new brakes put on his car so my brother was going to do that also. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal for me. Go pick up his car at work, bring it to my house, and bring it back to him. But the awesome thing about Aaron's car, is it is a right hand drive Interga that was imported over from Japan. Since it's from Japan, it's not an Acura Integra either, it's a Honda Integra because Acura is an American brand. So I'm in love with this car, it's incredibly fun to drive and you really have to pay attention to what you're doing because you're on the wrong side of the car. Shifting is also interesting at first because you use the other hand. So I got to drive that a couple of times which was really fun, and then spent the rest of the day hanging out at home and had a bbq with the family. It was nice to just relax for the rest of the weekend after such a hectic Friday/Saturday morning.

Now I'm just killing time until class at 5:30 tonight. Should be fun, but at the same time, it is school. Not much planned for the rest of the week, other than a doctor's appointment and band practice.

Hope you all are well.

A Night On The Street

So I wanted to talk about this earlier, but my post got kinda long and I had to leave for band practice. Oh yeah, I'm in a band too. I play drums, but write some songs on the guitar and am the "temporary" bass player. We don't play with one, but when it times for the studio, I have to have written and then play all the bass parts. One day we'll get a bass player, I hope. Oh well.

Anyways, tomorrow night I'll be volunteering with the Night On The Street. Which is an event where about 500 kids sleep in cardboard boxes in the street to help educate them, raise awareness, and raise money for homelessness. This year my mom is the coordinator and I will be assembling boxes for three hours and then working as security from 3-6am to help keep everyone safe, as well as all the other odd jobs they need me to do. I never participated in the event before, because I just never really cared. But for some reason I wanted to get involved this year, so I asked my mom what I could do to help. I know a few people who either have been or are homeless and want to do as much as I can to help people like them out.

On a side note, I was telling the singer in my band, Wyatt, about what I was doing tomorrow night and why I couldn't go to some stupid party with him. After I explained what it was about and what I would be doing, all he had to say was, "Why the hell would you want to do that? That sounds pretty gay." A, why wouldn't you want to help someone less fortunate than you, and B, why do people still feel the need to call everything gay? Since when is that an insult? You don't see people running around saying, "Oh that's so black." Or, "That's so mexican." So why the hell do people say that kind of shit with gay? There is nothing wrong with being a different race, so why the hell is there something wrong with being gay or bisexual? It doesn't matter. I wish people would get that through their think skulls and realize homosexuals are just like everyone else.

Well I think that's enough ranting for tonight. I better go get some sleep so I can stay up all night tomorrow. Hope all is well.

Something In The World Today

So I just got a rather disturbing phone call from my brother. A couple of years ago, my brother used to live with a friend named Bryan. Bryan got his girlfriend pregnant, so my brother, Erik, had to move out. At the time Bryan used to deal pot, but not in huge quantities. Once he found out his girlfriend was pregnant though, he stopped dealing all together and got a real job. He's been fine ever since. Anyways, I get this call from my brother saying two guys with guns broke into Bryan's house while he, his girlfriend, and one year old daughter were all home. The invaders taped both Bryan and his girlfriend up and placed a gun in Bryan's mouth after pistol whipping him in the head. They then started ripping apart the house looking for whatever it was they were looking for. At one point one of the guys threatened to kill Bryan's daughter if he didn't give them what they wanted. Unfortunately, Bryan had no idea what they were looking for, and they wouldn't tell him. They just continued to tear apart the house. Luckily, one of their neighbors had seen the shady individuals enter the house and then a few minutes later heard a scream, so they called the police. A whole bunch show up at the house and arrest one of the guys. The other one was upstairs going through their bedroom when he noticed the police. He quickly jumped out of the second story window and began to run away. The cops saw this and released the k-9 after him and they quickly arrested him as well. Other than a few stitches in Bryan's head, everyone is fine physically, but will be scarred emotionally for the rest of their lives.

I just can't get over the fact that this was a completely random act of violence. They live in a pretty nice town with a low crime rate, right next to a school. It was a little after 5 pm when they entered, so it was still light out. And the thing that really bothers me, is that they threatened to kill a one year old baby. There is something seriously wrong with these people.

Anyway, I know it's not really about me, but my brother just told me and it had me really bothered. I want to tell you about what I'm doing tomorrow, but this got kinda long so I'll post it tonight after band practice.

Peace,

-Kevin

April 14, 2010

Uh, Hi

Hey, I decided to make a blog. Not really sure what to do with it. I had a story going over on wordpress, but have postponed it for the immediate future because of school. I think this won't be nearly as time consuming so figure it's worth a shot.

I have a lot of stuff on my mind right now and felt this might be a good way to get it off my chest.

Well I guess I could tell you about myself. I'm Kevin, I'm 20 years old, and live in Minnesota. I'm going to school to become an addiction counselor. I love music, both listening to and playing. I play the drums, guitar, and bass, with skills in that order. Born to be a drummer, started guitar for something to do. And in my opinion, anyone that can play guitar can play bass, at least as a starting point.

Well I don't want to ramble on too long and bore you. I'll try to post every day or every other day. Thanks for checking me out.

Late,

-Kevin
